What does healthy eating mean to you?

Have you heard of the phrase old habits die hard? This is the same for eating habits. I am sure some of you recognize that what you didn't like as a kid, you still tend to avoid it.  That is why it is important to develop healthy eating habits at this stage so it can be carried out throughout the rest of your life.

A good question to ask yourself is what is considered as healthy eating? Is it follow the Canada's food guideline? Is it listening to your mother? or what your University has to say? Watch the video below to find out what some of your HealthyU students said.

As you saw in the video, some of the answers were

1. eating a balanced meal
2. everything in moderation
3. cooking
4. bringing snacks
5. Being mindful of the environment you're in
6. Being able to stay active
7. exploring different cultures
8. eating with friends and family

These are great answers and they are all correct. Research shows that self-control, self-monitoring (Baumeister et al., 2006), planning  (Wong and Mullan, 2009) are all a very important factors that will determine your eating habits. So maybe the first question we should ask ourselves is what does healthy eating mean to you? and how do you plan to eat healthier?
